There are treasures within pain.
An oyster who was not injured, will never produce Pearls. Because pearls are a healed wound.
It begins with a tiny piece of grit, sand, shell, which serves as an irritation to the tender flesh of the gentle oyster. In response, the oyster builds up layers of shimmery calcium nacre around the hurtful element, gradually growing the pearl.
A small pearl takes around 2-3 years. To grow, a large one, closer to 10 years.
Thus from irritating circumstances a thing of beauty can be made. What a wonderful analogy for our own lives.
It serves as a gentle reminder to see our pain, our past and our flaws as a symbol of hope and that everything that has been damaged, can once again be healed and whole again.
